The Legend of El Dorado

It has been several months since we returned from trip to Peru. We know that there are many questions about future destinations, how we are able to have the "still ass" and new games on the web, but we felt the obligation before close the chapter of this adventure

Therefore, these days we have finished with our opinions the accommodations of Lime, Ica, Arequipa, Colca Valley, Fist, Cuzco, Ollantaytambo, Aguascalientes and Sandoval Lake (!! UPDATED !!)

One of the feelings of the trip that still endure us, are those moments when we disappeared among the impressive Inca constructions as "wanting" to find our own treasures, or those walls that almost talked to us telling us their secrets, legends or stories.

Among them we were especially famous Legend of El Dorado, that although it is not strictly Peru, if we wanted it to serve as an end point for this great experience.

It was in 1530 when the myth began in the Andes of present-day Colombia. Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada first met the "muiscas" and with them their rituals. They arrived in Quito where the ritual became history, history in myth, myth in legend. El Dorado was already a kingdom, an empire, a mythical place with large gold reserves which attracted the ambitions of many.

Francisco de Orellana and Gonzalo Pizarro led the most famous Amazon expedition in 1541. Also the English, from 1595 with Walter Raleigh would do it along the Orinoco River (Venezuela) to the interior of Guyana.

Another of the great legends of El Dorado is the myth of Guatavita, a lagoon located in Colombia that even talks about aliens from a nearby star system.

Hundreds of writers are already those who have related their visions about this legend, but the truth is that today everything that contains this story is surrounded by mystery and esotericism. Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil ... and Peru

... it is said that the Machu Picchu Citadel It could have been the first city that kept these gold reserves within its walls ...

... or there are also those who maintain that all that gold ended at the bottom of the depths of the Titikaka Lake

... but above all of them, weighs more the one that maintains that the immensity of the Amazon jungle It was the one who tucked and clothes this missing Golden City.

Sometimes, when you read or watch on television that there is still some Amazonian tribes to discover, you ask yourself ...we have already been able to reach the last hidden point of this world?
